month: March 2009

I met this beautiful bride a little while ago and was lucky enough to be asked to shoot a small number of photographs before she got married today.   Thank you for asking me to be part of your day which has been blessed by glorious spring sunshine and as promised, here’s a little sneak peak.

Just when you’re all dressed up and ready to go, the trampoline calls your name!  :-)

Wow,  I’ve just been informed that I’ve won three Fujifilm Envisage awards.  These images will then go forward and at the end of the year the overall Fujifilm Envisage Photographer of the Year will be announced. Keep those fingers crossed everyone and a big thank you to my wonderful subjects :-)

Here’s one of the pictures that won…

This is one amazing young man!  Talented and articulate, fun and confident - not many adults have these qualities let alone a seventeen year old but this guy has it in bucket loads.  We had a lot of fun doing this -borrowing a chair from Elivra Cafe to put in the middle of a muddy field raised a few eyebrows but it made for some fabulous shots.  He brought along a selection of clothes and styled himself - the design world needs to watch out for this guy, I think he’s a star in the making!

Travelling back home from school last night, my gorgeous boy (below) says “mum - what year were you born in?”.  Well I’m a “World Cup” baby - 1966 and apparently your grandmother nearly had me when England won! Why - do you want to buy me something extra special for my birthday?”.  ”Oh no - I just wanted to find out how many days you’ve got left from my iDie app on my iphone!”.  Aren’t kids just wonderful!!!  Apparently, according to this gismo that he has, which I guess is based on the law of averages, I have 14,197 days left.  I have used up 52.3511% of my life!  Gulp!!  But I can’t have - there’s still too much to do.  I want to take singing lessons (hankering back to when I starred in the school production of the King and l aged 13).  I want to ride on top of an elephant and I want to win a trophy - something big, gold and plastic!  All my family have a trophy for something but I was the last kid to be picked for the school team and could still be seen running around the athletics track when everyone else had hit the showers (built for comfort not speed has been a life long motto).  I’m now desperately compiling a to do list before I “peg it” as my son so delicately put it.  Who said having kids wasn’t fun?  Check out how long you have:

Okay, I am officially fed up with the winter.  Yes, I can see the small signs of life in the garden - the odd daffodil is raising it’s head from it’s winter slumber and the little lambs have appeared in the fields at the kid’s school, but NO HEAT!  I want to feel the sun on my face, my bones need to warm through. I want to drink cocktails before lunch and stretch out and toast both sides until brown. Luckily, I’m off on hols in four weeks, so not long to wait but it feels like forever away - so have posted some images that I forgot to blog at the end of last summer, when the days were long and air was warm (can you remember that far back?). BTW, please don’t ask “what’s happened to your blog” - I tried being clever and altering a few things but guess what, I’m not clever and have managed to muck it up.  Hopefully, a clever lady in the States will be sorting it out soon. Fingers crossed!
