month: May 2009

I was totally blessed with the Sussex weather and this lovely newborn baby.  Mum was quite happy to let me take photographs outside and so I was able to take a few shots that are a little different to the norm.  I’m sure he will grow up to be just as cute as his older brother, who has been in front of my camera on many occasions – watch out, you’ve got competition!

I’m so lucky to be the only photographer to have unrestricted access to photograph at Borde Hill Gardens in Haywards Heath.  We were able to tuck ourselves away in some beautiful spots, sheltered from the cold and the wind this Saturday to take some great lifestyle portrait shots.  As you can see, these two children and their mum were just adorable to photograph with lots of hugs, kisses and love for each other…

I had the pleasure of photographing this beautiful young woman and her husband as they the await the arrival of their bundle of joy.  Some people are just so great to work with and this couple were the best – even when I spotted a gorgeous field of flowers opposite their house and there seemed no way for a lady with a large baby bump to get safely across the ditch, J just scooped up his wife in his arms and carried her (much to her squeals of laughter)  I’m sure it will be something to tell their little one when they look back at the day they had their maternity photographs taken.  Thanks to both of you, you were just brilliant…

Here’s a sneak peak for a beautiful family I photographed on Saturday at Borde Hill Gardens.  A walk through the grounds enabled me to capture these lovely children doing what kids like doing the most – running and jumping, picking dandelions, chasing bubbles and getting hugs from mum and dad…

I entered the Annabel Williams Photography Awards 2009 earlier this year and I have been rewarded by winning Best Portrait Album.  Many thanks for all those who have sent their congratulations – it’s been much appreciated :-)

When asked “what should the children wear” before we do a lifestyle photography shoot, I’ll often suggest a colour that I know will work really well for my style of photography and for the background I want to use.  This time it was pink and shown off to perfection by these gorgeous sisters.  Do kids come any cuter that this?  I just love the way the green and pink blend together for really vibrant pictures.  Saying that I’m so torn between the joy colour brings to a picture and just loving the emotion of black and white.

I was asked to photograph this wonderful family over the weekend. We took a couple of hours to stroll through beautiful bluebell woods and sun drench fields ending up with tea and cake in the garden. A perfect way to spend an afternoon. As promised – here’s a sneak peak for you…
