Dads and their daughters.

What is it with dads and their daughters?  Mine has the ability to wrap her daddy around her little finger and he visibly melts when she gives him a big hug. There again, I seem to remember doing a similar thing to my dad when I needed something that I couldn’t possibly live without during my teenage years.  No doubt that this little one will do exactly the same as she is so gorgeous…

Pretty in Purple

Take a look at this beautiful little girl.  Such a cute little poppet who, despite near freezing temperatures, managed to give me some wonderful shots.

Autumn sunshine.

Being a lifestyle photographer in the UK is definitely challenging.  Not knowing what the weather is going to  do from one moment to the next it probably one of the hardest things to plan for.  However, when I do get a break and the autumn sunshine is on my side there is nothing better than kicking through the leaves with a couple of willing participants, even though we couldn’t feel our fingers by the end of it!

Laughing in the rain.

Okay, when the weather man says “scattered showers” you don’t expect to do a photoshoot in what I can only describe as a mini monsoon!  After hiding in the bushes with a blanket over our heads for a while, the only thing we could do was make a run for the nearest cafe and dry off.  However the double rainbow in the sky was shining down and we still managed to grab some great shots of this gorgeous little girl before we called it a day…

BBC Radio Sussex/Surrey

Yesterday I was asked to speak on Radio Sussex/Surrey and about photography and photographs that show emotion or remind us of a special moment in time.  I tried to convey that that when we show pictures to clients not all of them (in fact very few) are of them all smiling in to the camera.  I love to leave in shots where the emotion comes through, sometimes showing photographs where their little one is sucking his thumb or sticking out his tongue in a cheeky moment conveys something to the parents that words can’t describe and often they are the ones they end up picking.  These three images just pulled on my heart strings and I know the parents felt the same.

Daughters

Oh goodness, there I go again getting all broody….. longing for the days when my little girl wanted to wear cute dresses like this one and would let me put ribbons in her hair. That’s one of the joys of having a daughter isn’t it – dressing them up and cooing over cute clothes?  Now its just a case of handing over the credit card and knowing that whatever you think is gorgeous is instantly dismissed with a withering look that only a teenager can give. Hopefully these pictures of such a little poppet will bring back many memories in years to come.

Brothers & Sisters

Just how cute are these two!  I have to say that these two were just adorable – playing together beautifully in what was hopefully not the last of the summer sunshine.  I had the bunting stashed away in a bag and had been wanting to use it for ages as the colours were so gorgeous and then along came these two lovely children and brought it all to life.  I have a real thing about bunting at the moment, my children think I’m mad as I have had it strung around the garden since the beginning of summer but it’s one of those things (along with balloons) that just makes me happy to look at.  Must be going crazy in my old age :-)

Pretty in pink

Just looking at these family photographs makes me smile. This little girl and her mum and dad had great fun on Sunday morning chasing each other around the grounds at Borde Hill.  We started with  balloons but the joy of seeing them float off up into the sky was so exciting  to this little poppet that letting the strings go was far more fun than holding on.  Just a fab session with this family – relaxed and fun photography, just as it should be.

SMILE

A beautiful sunny summer’s afternoon spent with friends and their gorgeous little boy.  Having not seen him for the best part of a year, it was amazing to see how much he had grown and what a happy little chap he had turned out to be with the most wonderful beaming smile.  He also had an amazing turn of speed for one so little so it was down with the primes and out with the zoom lens.  My reward was being able to capture the pictures below as well as my friends indulging my love of wine and chocolate.  In fact I’m thinking of offering to take part payment in chocolate from now on – it feels like it could be a good move :-)
