TEDDY BEAR’S PICNIC

I was invited to take photographs of these two truly delightful young girls and we decided that on a morning as beautiful as yesterday it should be spent under a huge lime tree  picking flowers, reading stories and having a picnic with their favourite teddy bears.  If only every morning could be spent like this, life would be a wonderful thing :-)

FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHY SHOOT AT LAST.

Finally, after bad backs and awful weather, I managed to get together with this lovely family and take some photographs at Borde Hill. Although it’s not what every teenager wants to be doing on a Saturday afternoon, just by giving up a couple of hours they now have images that will last a lifetime and as someone who is already getting the jitters about her son going off to Uni next year (yes I am that awful clingy mother!) I truly know how much something like this matters.

BEING THREE

Oh to be three.  Not a care in the world apart from loving your teddy bear, playing in the grass, flying your kite and munching on the odd biscuit or two.  Chasing a three year old around has put me through my paces this week and I had completely forgotten how exhausting it was.  They never sit still for a moment and are always on the look out for the next thing to do.  But who cares when you see how wonderful life is through their eyes.

Check out the blue Converse – sooooo cool!

BACK TO WORK

Finally!!!   After 5 long months in the photography wilderness recovering from my second back operation I have managed to do my first photoshoot.  I couldn’t have asked for a better subject and this blog is part one of two.  Isn’t she just GORGEOUS with her big eyes and soft, fluffy hair.  The shoot put me through my paces, lying on the floor with a camera is not the best for a bad back but when you have a subject like this, you’ll do what it takes.  I walked into the house and saw the red blanket and just had to use it.  Look out for the next instalment coming soon.

I also want to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to everyone (you know who you are) who has supported me through this tough time – I owe you all an awful lot.  Sarah x

GLOOMY WEATHER

Pleeeeease stop raining!  I have had to reschedule so much work!  Luckily, we managed to bank this shoot although fighting all the way with the light.  These two gorgeous little ones were totally adorable.  She had the most wonderful curly hair, falling into ringlets around her face and his chocolate brown eyes must melt his mummy’s heart every time he looks at her.  This shoot is a big secret for a certain someone special.  So why blog it?  Because mummy can’t wait to see a sneak peak – and who can blame her :-)

ALL GROWN UP

How does it happen?  One minute they’re a cute little bundle that fits nicely in the crook of your arm and then in a blink of an eye they turn into a beautiful young woman ready to face what life has to offer. This gorgeous young lady, her dad and brother all came to see me to mark this milestone. It takes just an hour or so of your time but these are the moments when you look back on your life that will mean everything…

SECOND TIME AROUND

The last time I was asked to photograph this lovely family was when their beautiful little girl was only a few months old.  I love being invited back to photograph families for the second and often third time – just seeing how the children have grown in between is just amazing. Their features often change but the one thing I remembered so well about this little girl  was her huge brown eyes, which  have definitely stayed the same. Such a poppet and definitely in charge of her two older brothers, who adore her…

Their cousins were also at the house and although one was a little camera shy, this little one loved the limelight…

SQUEEZING EVERYONE IN

The phone is ringing and the email enquiries coming thick and fast.  Trying to squeeze everyone in before Christmas is proving difficult with this awful weather. However, someone was looking down on me this afternoon and held the rain off for just long enough to capture this cute little girl and her lovely parents.  Mum said that her daughter loved trees, so off we went to find the brightest autumn tree and leaves we could find – not easy when most of the leaves have been blown off in the rain and squished into the mud.  She was an absolute poppet and fell fast asleep in her daddy’s arms the minute I took the last shot.  I had to include the picture of her tiny little hand, just because you forget so quickly how small they are at that age – it’s those little details that get lost in time so easily…

TEENAGE PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHY

I was contacted by this young lady’s mum to say that she wanted  to capture some images of her daughter.  She had done a family portrait shoot before in a studio but wanted something different this time. No problem!  This young lady was amazing!!  Although a little shy at first in front of the camera (who isn’t?) and in denial about just how pretty she was, it didn’t take long to get into the swing of things.  I love the series of pictures of her with her ipod and seriously could have blogged just about every image  I took as she looked great in all  of them, but these were definite favourites.  A big thank you to her younger brother for coming along, keeping her company and encouraging her  at every moment. I have some great shots of him too but for now, this is her moment…

Autumn Leaves

This young man was a little hesitant to start with but soon got right into the swing of things when I said he could throw some leaves at me!  Despite being stung on the head twice at the start of the shoot (I hate wasps!) we had great fun and we even managed to get it done before the heavens opened.  Here’s the sneak peak…
