Unfortunately, I seem to have some gremlins who work hand in hand with BT and my website.  If anyone is having problems sending or not receiving a reply to an email, or calling and not getting through, please can you use these alternatives.  My apologies.

Just back from a wonderful family holiday at one of my favourite places in the world – beautiful Barbados.  I can’t recommend this place enough if you get the chance. Not many pictures to show as my family would not get off the beach but we managed a quick scoot around the island in our mini moke and few afternoons surfing…

The colours are just amazing…

The island was busy harvesting the sugar cane…

Wow,  I’ve just been informed that I’ve won three Fujifilm Envisage awards.  These images will then go forward and at the end of the year the overall Fujifilm Envisage Photographer of the Year will be announced. Keep those fingers crossed everyone and a big thank you to my wonderful subjects :-)

Here’s one of the pictures that won…

Travelling back home from school last night, my gorgeous boy (below) says “mum – what year were you born in?”.  Well I’m a “World Cup” baby – 1966 and apparently your grandmother nearly had me when England won! Why – do you want to buy me something extra special for my birthday?”.  ”Oh no – I just wanted to find out how many days you’ve got left from my iDie app on my iphone!”.  Aren’t kids just wonderful!!!  Apparently, according to this gismo that he has, which I guess is based on the law of averages, I have 14,197 days left.  I have used up 52.3511% of my life!  Gulp!!  But I can’t have – there’s still too much to do.  I want to take singing lessons (hankering back to when I starred in the school production of the King and l aged 13).  I want to ride on top of an elephant and I want to win a trophy – something big, gold and plastic!  All my family have a trophy for something but I was the last kid to be picked for the school team and could still be seen running around the athletics track when everyone else had hit the showers (built for comfort not speed has been a life long motto).  I’m now desperately compiling a to do list before I “peg it” as my son so delicately put it.  Who said having kids wasn’t fun?  Check out how long you have:

Hope you all have a wonderful and romantic day tomorrow.  My other half has given up tickets to see England v Wales. This is a sign of true love in our household!

Have you ever fallen out of love with something?  I have to admit that for some reason, I wasn’t happy with this blog site and that’s probably one of the reasons that I haven’t blogged for such a long time (that and the fact I’ve been so busy).  But thanks to all the people out there nagging me to get going again and an extra push from my friend Jennifer Clare (a wonderful photographer based in Derby) the headers have been changed and I feel it’s about time things got moving again.  Talking of getting back in touch, check out this wonderful utube clip…. get your hanky out!

Just to start the new blog ball rolling, here are a few personal pics from a recent trip to Laguna Beach in California.  As my kids currently think the sun and moon rises in Abercrombie & Fitch and maxed out my credit card in their store, I tried a couple of shots in a similar style.

Welcome to the new blog, I’ve been working on it for a while and I hope you like it – still a few tweaks to go but I get all excited over things like this so I just wanted to get it out there.   The old blog hasn’t disappeared into cyberspace, so if you want to look go to www.swphotoblog.typepad.com

Have a look at the recommended links – these are businesses that I can personally recommend and are run by some fantastic entreprenerial people. The gallery section is coming soon, so keep an eye out.

Hope you enjoy the new format…
