As some of you may know, I was recently taken into hospital for emergency back surgery. This unfortunately means that I cannot work for sometime to come but I really wanted to thank all my wonderful clients, friends and family for their amazing support over the past couple of weeks and their patience over the coming weeks (hopefully not months). I really do not know which way is up right now - probably due to all the pain killers but all the cards, flowers and good wishes have meant so much and I just wanted you all to know how much I appreciate them. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Sarah x

I had taken some photographs of this couple’s lovely daughter before but this time I was asked to take some family pictures to help celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary. Despite being jet lagged from a fabulous holiday, they smiled and posed for the camera with style. With lots of laughing and joking we soaked up the evening sunlight which chose to make a welcome appearance. Many congratulations to you both you truly are a lovely family and here’s to the next 25! Personally, I only have 6 more years to go with Mr W and I should get my silver medal - or at least something sparkly :-))

Over the weekend I was invited to photograph this great family. Clients wanting informal pictures of them having fun together is my idea of a great photoshoot and it’s definitely those sort of photographs that memories are made of. I’m not sure whether it was his Irish heritage or whether he was just a wonderfully gifted storyteller but this dad had his little girl in stitches acting and recounting the story of Cinderella. As you can see in the picture below, she took great delight in turning him into a pumpkin with the wave of her pink marabou feathered wand. As for her little brother, he was just a total cutie and is obviously desperate to be able to join in when he’s big enough. Thank you all for a great morning

I entered the Annabel Williams Photography Awards 2009 earlier this year and I have been rewarded by winning Best Portrait Album. Many thanks for all those who have sent their congratulations - it’s been much appreciated
I recently went to the SWPP conference in Hammersmith and met up with a lot of fellow photographers who I now class as good friends. It was also exciting to be introduced to a number of other new people and we chatted and laughed, had a few drinks and swapped notes etc. as you do at these things. A few days later an unexpected “thank you” note dropped through the letter box from one photographer in particular - Chris MacKenzie. I can’t tell you how lovely it was to receive! Chris had taken the time to hand write a personal note which obviously takes so much more thought and effort. The picture on the front of the card made me laugh - even though we had only met for a short time it obviously didn’t take him that long to realise that, given half the chance, I would eat cake in exactly the same way

Yes!! Finally I’ve managed to upload my first blog slideshow of this lovely little lady. Click on the “galleries” heading above to watch. If you have any difficulties, please be sure to get in touch as there have been a few glitches. Enjoy! Sarah x

Here are a few favourite shots from Friday’s wedding. Jen and Barry were great fun to shoot and so happy and relaxed that they did everything we asked with big smiles on their faces. Barry had to be at least a foot taller than Jen so had no trouble scooping her up in his arms and carrying her across the gardens to have some relaxed portraits done. It saved a lot of wear and tear on the expensive wedding shoes as well as being a rather gentlemanly and romantic gesture.
